Parking
Parking can be a bit tricky in Slayton during the Murray County Fair!
To help out, American Legion members will shuttle people from vehicles to the fairgrounds. Here are the hours that service is available:
Wednesday, August 14 11 am to 10 p.m.
Thursday, August 15 11 am to 10 p.m.
Friday, August 16 11 am to 10 p.m.
Saturday August 17 11 am to 10 p.m.
Reminder: The Prairie Days Parade takes place at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 17. This means there will be no parking along the parade route beginning at midnight Friday.
Food
The wonder of fair food never ceases! And the variety of offerings is sure to please every palate!
There’s the 4-H Food Stand, serving breakfast lunch and dinner. They are open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day of the fair. From pancakes to burgers, coney dogs to quesadillas, and everything in between, no one will walk away hungry! Happily served by the smiling faces of various 4-H clubs in Murray County!
The Murray County Pork Producers spend the fair grilling and cooking, and the pulled pork or pork burgers have become a tradition. Right next to them is the Murray County Dairy Association, stirring up another fair tradition – the malts! Whether you’re a fan of chocolate, vanilla, or a variety of fun daily flavors, you’ll have to have your fair malt every year!
Of course, there’s the usual carnival goodness – mini donuts, kettle corn and a bit of deep-fried everything.
You will never walk away from the Murray County Fair hungry!
